Alberto Arana founded ABK in 1987, after years working as a manager in the credit department of Citibank (USA) and Sumitomo Bank. In Spain, he was pioneer introducing Excess Loss coverage in Trade Credit (1990), in combination with Reinsurance Captives. His experience in the field of risk management and insurance for multinational companies makes him a specialist in this field. He graduated in business sciences at ESADE, and in the "International Management Program" at New York University.
In 2008 he joined ABK as a partner to continue developing his professional career. He has always focused on insurance brokerage, which has given he great experience in areas such as professional civil liability, surety insurance, credit insurance programs, comprehensive industrial risk management and insurance for fine art. Ignacio Cumellas has a law degree and a PDD from IESE.
In the year 2000 Arantza de Miguel joined the ABK team as a partner. Previously, her professional career was developed as a commercial and procedural lawyer. Currently, Arantza's career places her as a specialist in risk management and insurance for business groups, in addition to being an expert lawyer in compliance. He graduated in law from INEDE and UNED and has a master's degree in legal advice from IE, and a master's degree in compliance from ASCOM.
In October 2007 he joined ABK. Before, his professional career had been developed at Jori Armengol Correduría de Seguros, where he worked for eight years as Commercial Director; at AON, where he worked for seven years as sales manager for Catalonia and the Balearic Islands in the companies and industries segment; and in Catalana Occidente, where he worked as Affected Agent for two years. His specialties are logistics and transport companies, Professional Civil Liability of freight forwarders, accidents in professional sports, contingencies and guarantees before administrations. Currently, he is also an Agricultural Expert and works as a certified CECAS Insurance Mediator and Dale Carnegie Training Instructor.
After performing the role of investment analyst in a venture capital fund, and working as commercial director of a company owned by the fund, Alberto Arana Iñiesta joined ABK in September 2021. Previously, his experience was also developed at Novicap, working capital financing company in the Fintech sector, and in private banking, while working at Abante Asesores. He graduated from ESADE Business School (business administration and management) and continued his training with a master's degree in philosophy applied to contemporary challenges at the UOC.

The beginnings of ABK date back to 1955 with the creation of the J. Arana Seguros Agency, which in 1990 was renamed ABK Arana Brokers. Currently, the company is called ABK Risks and Insurance, an evolution that responds to the needs of the market and the company’s own development.
It is essential for our team to know how to present risks to the reduced insurance market. That is why our company has evolved towards an open company model, managed by its managing partners, who are required to have a high technical preparation in risks and insurance. Hence this corporate and less personal name for all our associates: ABK Risks and Insurance.
